Janka Hardness Table

The Janka hardness test measures the force required to drive a 0.444 inch steel ball into the wood to a depth of half the ball's diameter. This is one of the best measures of the ability of wood species to withstand denting and wear. It is also a good indicatorof how hard a species is to work with and to establish whether or not is suitable for flooring purpose.
